MEET THE DEPARTMENTS

Superintendent
Melissa Roper
Melissa has grown up here at the Ventura County Fair. She has volunteered in the Youth Building since she was 8 years old. In her teens she became the youngest chairperson the building had seen at that time. In addition to her volunteering she also entered her craft items and baked goods earning Sweepstakes numerous times. She has been the Superintendent of the Academic Rodeo for numerous years now and has brought about the expansion of it to include a second competition for the kids in the 4th/5th grades. She is helped out at the fair by her entire family – Mom as her assistant, brother as photographer and website developer and dad as a volunteer. Something she is constantly heard saying is “you will be amazed at how smart these kids are.”
