The Ventura County Fairgrounds’ proximity to the ocean is great for sweeping views and cool summer breezes, but the damp, salt air wreaks havoc on the meeting facilities and structures, many of which were built more than 75 years ago. The Ventura County Fair Foundation is working on several projects to raise and allocate the funds necessary to preserve and enhance the beauty and vitality of the Fairgrounds:
The Foundation is raising funds to rebuild the horse stalls featuring a modern design and improved facilities. The horse stalls are used to house animals at fair time and for equestrian events throughout the year. Ventura County Animal Control brings horses and other domestic animals to the Fairgrounds from around Ventura County for their safety and protection during forest fires or other natural disasters.
Judge William P. Clark Livestock Center is an ongoing project of the Ventura County Fair Foundation. This 40,000 square foot barn, moving into the 2nd phase of construction, is home to more than 700 animals during the Ventura County Fair. During non-fair times, this space houses livestock shows and competitions. The second phase of this new livestock center will include roll up doors and siding to protect our visitors and their children from the cold ocean air. The experience for all participants and visitors will be enhanced by giving them a place to show and view the livestock that were raised by members of Ventura County’s 4H, Grange and FFA.
The Main Entry Plaza Project is an opportunity the community to show support for the Fair. Businesses, organizations, families and individuals can support the Ventura County Fair by purchasing a brick in the Main Entry Plaza. Bricks are engraved with the name of and message from the community member. Funds raised from this project are used to provide financial support for improvements and beautification of the Fairgrounds.
We depend on members of the community to support these projects. Please donate generously to help us improve and beautify our Fairgrounds for the benefit of our community.
