2010 was another exciting Fair for Fishes & Friends in their new location in the Livestock Area. Western Nights and Carnival Lights was a theme that made a splash throughout the exhibits.
Annual highlights in Fishes & Friends contests involve you, the Fair visitors who stopped by and voted for your favorite Aquarium and for the Ugliest Fish.
Hundreds of votes were cast and you, the people, chose the winners. Of the 70 aquariums that were exhibited this year, the winner for Most Popular Aquarium is Jim Barcena of Camarillo. The Most Popular Aquarium in the commercial division is X-treme Marine of Ventura, receiving 112 of 400 votes.
The people’s choice in the Ugliest Fish Contest was also chosen from those 70 aquariums. The distinction went to a Banded Frontosa entered by Mark Thomas of Thousand Oaks. Heavenly Angels of Ventura won the Ugliest Fish in the commercial division for their Chiclid entry.
Votes were counted by Fishes & Friends Superintendent Kevin Horvath, Assistant Superintendent Bob Amerson and 14 year volunteer Marge Stocks.
